Sweet Harvest is an online Video Slot created by Microgaming which features a quite unusual theme. The overall look of the game is highly influenced by that and even though the graphics are more than decent, the gameplay is quite enjoyable and the rewards you could get from this slot are not to be missed, I must say the theme is its main downside.

It is themed around the farm life of a boy and a girl and obviously, harvesting is a great deal of the farm life. That’s why you will see on your reels fruits, vegetables and other similar stuff related to the glorious farm life the game is trying to portray.

It is not a work of art, but the game seems to be very well crafted and if you get used to the idea of playing a slot game celebrating the idea of harvesting, you will definitely enjoy it for hours thanks to the very visual appealing graphics, the smooth and easy to understand gameplay and the rewards you could end up receiving for your hard work.

Because the game doesn’t feature the 243 ways to win system that Microgaming uses so heavily these days, and offers instead a standard 20 paylines system, the betting range is very flexible.

You could play this game as a penny slot if you just want to lay back and relax after a hard day of work for €0.01 per spin or, if you want to make things more interesting and hunt the bigger wins you could go for €25 per spin. Since the highest spin value is set to €25, this may not be the best choice for a high-roller but definitely worth a shot for a couple of spins either way.

The base game is pretty dull unfortunately and the theme doesn’t really make it fascinating either. You will play on a 5×3 reel and hope for the best while the pumpkins and other farm related icons roll on it spin after spin.

So things could get pretty interesting in the base-game thanks to the Wild symbol. The occurrence on this is not very high though, as you may expect.

To make things more enjoyable and exciting, Microgaming implemented 2 Scatter icons in Sweet Harvest, each capable of triggering a different bonus feature directly from the base-game.

First up, we have the Barn symbol. Hitting at least 3 of them anywhere on your reels will trigger a Free Spins Bonus round. You will be awarded 12 Free Spins regardless of the number of Scatters you hit in your winning spin, and as usual in Microgaming slots, there’s a couple of twists in this feature. Bringing the Boy and the Girl symbols together on your reels will activate additional Wilds when stacked.

This can mean some serious wins could be made during this round thanks to the additional winning combinations the extra Wilds could create. Also, if you get the Boy and the Girl symbols on an active payline during free spins adjacent to each other, you will be awarded a 2x multiplier on that spin’s win.

The other bonus round you can play in this slot can be triggered by hitting 2 Veggie Basket symbols anywhere on reels 2 and 4. This bonus game is pretty basic and doesn’t really require any interaction on your part, but since the top payout available during this feature is a whopping 1,200 coins, this is definitely something to look forward to in Sweet Harvest.

This feature cannot be triggered during Free Spins and it awards random coin amounts during base-game only. During the approximately 500 spins I played testing this game, I managed to access this random bonus feature twice, for a 120 coins prize and another 200 coins prize. Not bad at all!

Overall, Sweet Harvest is a nice game despite its unusual and unappealing (in my opinion) theme and you should definitely give it a chance if you want to have a great time playing a penny-slot. The sound effects are not the best and the sound of the rolling reels may drive you crazy if you insist on playing Sweet Harvest for a long time, but at least there’s a mute button available.
